Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with student representatives from women's colleges across Delhi on Monday to discuss pressing safety concerns on and around campuses. The meeting, held at Mukhyamantri Jan Seva Sadan, focused on issues ranging from poor street lighting to the need for increased police presence in student-heavy areas.

Students from institutions including Lady Shri Ram College, Gargi College, and Daulat Ram College presented a comprehensive list of safety requirements. Their requests included establishing safety committees at each college with representation from principals, students, and local police officers. They also emphasized the need for regular audits of streetlights, CCTV cameras, and hostel facilities.

In response, the Chief Minister assured attendees that their concerns would receive follow-up action from relevant officials. Gupta informed students about ongoing work to install approximately one lakh smart streetlights throughout Delhi, which will be connected to the Integrated Command and Control Centre. She also reminded students to use the emergency helpline number 112 for urgent police assistance.

To facilitate ongoing communication, a WhatsApp group will remain active for students to share concerns directly with officials. The CM stated that if complaints are not addressed at appropriate levels, students can escalate issues to senior police officers. Students also highlighted specific areas requiring enhanced security, including Siri Fort Road, Mukherjee Nagar, and locations near Kamala Nehru College and Gargi College.
