George Wrighster III argues the Ducks deserve a ranking over LSU despite both teams suffering Week 6 losses.

Former Oregon Player Questions LSU's Top 25 Ranking After Tigers Drop to No. 22

Former Oregon tight end George Wrighster III has criticized LSU's continued presence in the Top 25 rankings while his alma mater sits unranked, despite what he characterizes as a significantly tougher schedule for the Ducks.

Following Week 6 results, LSU dropped from No. 10 to No. 22 after a 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky, while Oregon fell out of the rankings entirely after a 17-15 defeat to then-No. 21 UCLA. Wrighster argued on his college football podcast that the rankings don't reflect the quality of competition each team has faced. He noted that Oregon has played four currently ranked opponents, while LSU hasn't secured any victories over Top 25 teams and has lost to both ranked opponents they've faced.

The Tigers now hold a 4-2 record after losses to Ole Miss and Kentucky, though they've dominated in their victories, including a season-opening 51-10 win over Clemson. Oregon's quarterback situation complicated their UCLA loss, as Dylan Raiola was benched during his first start after throwing two interceptions and managing just 43 passing yards through three quarters. Backup Brock Thomas provided a late spark but couldn't overcome the deficit.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning acknowledged after the UCLA game that his team no longer controls its own destiny. The Ducks will look to rebound when they face Nebraska in their next contest.
