Trontek Sets Ambitious 12 GWh Battery Storage Target by 2028
The battery technology firm unveils domestic manufacturing plans spanning residential to utility-scale energy storage systems.

Battery technology company Trontek Electronics has outlined ambitious expansion plans into battery energy storage systems, aiming to achieve 12 GWh of annual manufacturing capacity by 2028. The move positions the firm to capitalize on India's rapidly growing energy storage market.
The company rolled out a domestically manufactured energy storage portfolio covering residential, commercial and industrial, and utility-scale applications. The product range features systems with capacities between 215 kWh and 5 MWh, designed to meet diverse energy storage needs across multiple sectors.
For commercial and industrial clients, Trontek introduced 215 kWh systems tailored for hotels, offices, and small to medium-sized manufacturing facilities, focusing on demand management and power reliability. The lineup also includes 418 kWh systems aimed at larger operations such as factories, warehouses, hospitals, and industrial campuses.
The expansion comes as India's battery energy storage sector experiences explosive growth. According to recent industry data, the country added 8.2 GWh of battery storage capacity in the first half of 2026, representing an 84-fold increase compared to the same period in 2025. Total installed capacity reached 9.3 GWh by June 2026.
Trontek plans to support its growth through local engineering and manufacturing capabilities, encompassing battery systems, testing, system integration, and technology development. However, the broader energy storage market continues to face hurdles related to domestic manufacturing, supply chains, financing, and skilled workforce availability.
