Yogi Adityanath claims UP transformed on women's safety since 2017

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asserted that the state has transformed from being questioned over women's safety to becoming a model for women's empowerment. The statement came during Navratri prayers to Maa Brahmacharini, where he drew parallels between the deity's determination and the state's progress.

In a social media post, Adityanath contrasted the state's situation before and after 2017, crediting a zero-tolerance approach toward crime, technology-based surveillance, and quick police response for creating what he called a fear-free environment for women. The Chief Minister pointed to several government programs as evidence of progress, including five phases of Mission Shakti, the Safe City Project, and women beat policing initiatives.

According to the Chief Minister, the women's police workforce in Uttar Pradesh has expanded from 10,000 to over 44,000 officers with a 20 percent reservation policy. The state has also established three women Provincial Armed Constabulary battalions named after historical figures Veerangana Uda Devi Pasi, Veerangana Jhalkari Bai Kori, and Veerangana Avantibai Lodhi in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Badaun respectively.

Adityanath emphasized that the state government's efforts represent a continuous journey toward achieving what he termed "Empowered Women, Prosperous Uttar Pradesh" under the current administration.
