Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh has formally requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene a special Parliament session addressing concerns over alleged irregularities in voter lists and treatment of protesters. The letter highlights claims that over 13 crore names have been deleted from electoral rolls and raises questions about police handling of demonstrations.

Singh expressed concern about deletions made during the Special Intensive Revision process, arguing they threaten the integrity and fairness of India's electoral system. He emphasized that such large-scale removals require parliamentary scrutiny and accountability measures to ensure every eligible citizen can exercise their voting rights without obstruction.

The AAP leader also addressed recent protests in Delhi calling for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation, where demonstrators questioned the electoral roll revision process. Singh noted reports of detained Members of Parliament, political workers, journalists, lawyers, and students, with particular concern about allegations of mistreatment of women protesters by police personnel.

Citing Article 19(1)(b) of the Constitution, which guarantees peaceful assembly rights, Singh criticized restrictions imposed during protests, including the closure of 57 Delhi Metro stations and widespread transport disruptions. He argued that Parliament cannot remain inactive while election integrity is questioned and citizens exercising constitutional rights face detention and force, calling these fundamental pillars of democracy.
