Punjab Adds Nearly 8 Lakh New Voters as Final Electoral Rolls Published

Punjab's Chief Electoral Officer has published the final electoral rolls for all 117 assembly constituencies in the state, registering a total electorate of 2.01 crore voters. The announcement follows the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, which added nearly 8 lakh new electors to the rolls.

The updated voter list shows 7,97,263 new enrollments, representing a net increase of 3.64 percent from the draft rolls released in August. The final count includes 1.04 crore male voters, 97.24 lakh female voters, and 506 third-gender voters. Service voters were also included in the rolls with a qualifying date of October 1, 2026.

Chief Electoral Officer Anindita Mitra distributed physical and digital copies of the electoral rolls to representatives from recognized political parties. Voters can now access the rolls through the CEO Punjab portal, the citizen service portal, or by visiting offices of District Election Officers and Booth Level Officers.

The revision process, which began on June 25 under directives from the Election Commission of India, involved extensive house-to-house enumeration and verification. Authorities issued notices to over 35 lakh electors with unmapped records or discrepancies, ultimately marking 86,038 individuals as ineligible after hearings and verification.

As part of the exercise, the number of polling stations across Punjab increased from 24,453 to 25,332. Mitra acknowledged the contribution of 89,395 Booth Level Agents and thanked voters and political parties for their cooperation. Eligible citizens whose names are missing from the rolls can still register by submitting Form 6 through the ECINET mobile app or via their local Booth Level Officer.
